Continuing his work with PUMA, Salehe Bembury has focused on the Velum 2 NITRO. For this Red Clay / Nasturtium version, the designer pairs a warm palette with a multi-layered construction, where wavy shapes and varied textures give the entire silhouette dimension.
Design and Texture Details
The Velum 2 NITRO features an upper constructed around multiple layers and rich textures. Wavy overlays are layered over translucent mesh, complemented by printed 5D details that reinforce the model's characteristic textured effect. A specific embossed pattern appears on the tongue, while co-branding details recall the collaboration with Salehe Bembury.
Warm Palette Construction
This particular version utilizes a warm-toned palette pairing Red Clay and Nasturtium. Unlike the more discreet tones found in some Velum 2 colorways, the color here plays a full role in the visual construction envisioned by Salehe Bembury. The rubber outsole completes the overall look.
Performance Technology Underfoot
For performance, PUMA incorporates its NITROFOAM technology—a nitrogen-infused foam designed to provide lightness, responsiveness, and cushioning underfoot. Complementing the vibrant upper is a midsole that adopts a gradient effect, enhancing the various shades found across the shoe's silhouette.
On this Velum 2 NITRO, Salehe Bembury doesn't choose between color and texture; Red Clay and the different layers of the silhouette work together to give the model dimension.
