Google is evolving its foldable smartphone with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, a thinner and lighter model that emphasizes enhanced durability, new cameras, and deeper Gemini integration. This generation also debuts HiLight, a light notification system integrated into the camera bar.
Design and Durability Improvements
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold now weighs 239 grams, which is nearly 10% less than its predecessor. Enhancing durability, Google utilized a new fiberglass composite back designed for better shock resistance. Additionally, it features a new gearedless hinge specifically intended to protect the internal screen. The smartphone maintains an important industry standard with IP68 certification against water and dust.
Display Technology and Visual Experience
The display system incorporates two Super Actua screens: an 8-inch flexible inner panel and a 6.5-inch external display. According to Google, both displays can reach a maximum brightness of 3,600 nits, representing a 20% increase over the previous generation's peak brightness.
Signature Features and Camera System
The camera bar introduces HiLight, a new system of LEDs arranged around the flash. This feature is highly functional; for instance, it can produce light signals during calls from favorite contacts or when interacting with Gemini in hands-free mode. Google plans to gradually expand its use cases to cover other types of notifications.
The photography experience has been enhanced significantly. The camera system features a new 48 Mpx main sensor and a telephoto lens that enables a Super Zoom of up to 30×. Another key feature joining the Pixel 11 lineup is Magic Capture, designed to help users more easily select the right moment when a subject is in motion.
Performance and Software Capabilities
Under the hood, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold uses the new Tensor G6 chip coupled with 16 GB of RAM. This processor is specifically optimized to accelerate processing related to Gemini Intelligence and other artificial intelligence functions that execute directly on the device.
The large flexible screen also receives several software improvements tailored for multitasking efficiency. These include a function allowing users to transform an application into a bubble for quick access. Previously available features on older Fold models, such as drag-and-drop, split screen, and Instant View, remain fully functional.
Battery Life and Charging Options
Powering the device is a large 4,806 mAh battery, for which Google reports excellent longevity of over 24 hours of battery life. For charging convenience, wired charging reaches 30 W, capable of restoring about 50% of the battery in just 30 minutes. Furthermore, wireless charging supports Qi2.2 and can reach up to 25 W.
With the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Google's primary focus is on evolving its foldable smartphone across multiple dimensions—lightness, durability, photography, and Gemini-linked features—while maintaining the defining characteristic of the series: the iconic 8-inch screen.
