Nike is bringing back the Air Bakin, styled with one of the color combinations most closely associated with its history. Colored in Varsity Red and Black, this High SP version captures the imposing look of the original '90s basketball model, complete with visible Air cushioning at the heel.
Design and Construction Details
The Air Bakin retains its high-cut, particularly robust construction. The upper pairs a black mesh base with Varsity Red overlays, while yellow rope laces provide an additional contrast to a palette directly inspired by the aesthetic of the original model.
The silhouette also incorporates multiple references to its historical identity. Nike Air branding appears on the tongue and heel, while various uppers overlay panels emphasize the massive profile that characterizes the Bakin.
Underfoot, the build rests on a Phylon midsole paired with a visible Max Air unit in the heel. Encapsulated Air units complete the cushioning at the forefoot, complemented by a rubber outsole.
