NEIGHBORHOOD revisits Vans with the Authentic 44, one of the Californian brand's most stripped-down silhouettes. In this black version, the collaboration emphasizes suede, embossed details, and a deliberately monochromatic construction rather than color itself.
Design Focus on Detail
The Authentic 44 is part of the OTW by Vans line and maintains the model’s characteristic low profile. NEIGHBORHOOD builds upon this familiar foundation using premium black suede uppers and custom-embossed details that add depth to the piece.
This monochromatic treatment minimizes contrast, effectively drawing attention instead to the textures and finishes. Furthermore, the vulcanized construction retains the traditional look of the Authentic, which is complemented by a Sola Foam ADC insole inside the shoe.
NEIGHBORHOOD's intervention is deliberately subtle: rather than altering the shape of the Authentic 44, the Japanese label works on its surface and details to lend a darker tone to the classic Vans model.
